THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS

Matthew 25:14-30

V: 14          (A) The Kingdom of Heaven is the Church. (Matthew 16:13-19) The terms Kingdom of Heaven

and the Church are used interchangeably.

                   (B) Delivered unto them his goods - 11 Corinthians 1:20, 11 Corinthians 2:14, Ephesians 1:3,
                         Ephesians 3:9-12, 11 Peter 1:3-8

V: 15          (A) A talent of gold was equivalent to 5,475 English pounds sterling or 26,280 American dollars.

                   (B) Quite a trust when compared with 15 cents a day, which was the pay of day laborers.

V: 16-23    (A) Every seed produces after its own kind. Apples produce apples, grapes produce
grapes (not apples) and Christians are to produce Christians.

                   (B) Isaiah pictured the MESSIAH, who was to come, as GOD’S servant. Isaiah 42:1-7, 49:1-6,
               Isaiah 50:4-9, 52:13 through 53:12.

                   (C) Their pleasure was the excitement of service! John 13:12-17 and II Timothy is the greatest
service you can render to a lost or erring sheep.

V: 24          (A) He blamed the MASTER for his own unproductively.

                   (B) JESUS had sown generously with his investment and trust in all three.

V: 15

V; 25          (A) He was cautious, frugal and afraid!

                   (B) Is it possible it was buried in a beautiful box of religious activity, ritualism and ceremonialism?

V: 26-30    (A) GOD in JESUS risked it all! 11 Corinthians 5:18-20

                   (B) There are many one talent Christians who do not have the ability to be spectacular.

                   (C) But don’t even think about refusing to be significant!

                   (D) We are called to high adventures as Christians! Mark 16:15-16, II Timothy 2:2
                and I Thessalonians 1:6-10.
